AIT India’s Sciencepreneurs prepare for their next journey

AIT India organised by Venturelab in partnership with the ZHAW (Leading House South Asia and Iran), swissnex India and SINE provides ten selected ten researchers from Swiss universities with the opportunity to explore the Indian market whilst discovering the potential of their innovation. Unlike previous editions where the teams travelled to Lausanne, Zurich, Mumbai, and Bangalore, this year the program will take place online. The teams will participate in business workshops, exchange best practices, and attend one-on-one meetings with experts from both countries. At the end of the program, Switzerland and India will each award a grant to two most outstanding projects. 

The selected sciencepreneurs are:

Daniel Spring, aventura.aero, UZH, hightech 
aventura.aero’s multirole aerial platform closes the gap between conventional drones and aircraft, for surveillance, disaster relief, and transport air services everywhere.
 
Shreyasvi Natraj, Lyfe, UNIGE, medtech 
Lyfe develops a 3D scanner for the oral cavity, as an effective way to carry out medical procedures such as identifying the placement of braces or conducting surgeries to repair abnormalities.  

Gaspard Ky, Bloom Biorenewables, EPFL, cleantech 
Bloom transforms plants into renewable materials and energy to offer a sustainable alternative to fossil in industries such as fragrances, materials, plastics, or textiles.

Gayatri Muthukrishnan, Miyara Health, UZH, medtech 
The medtech startup develops a low-cost, integrated smartphone app to provide patients with accurate information about health management and disease prevention, incentivised pill reminders, and the ability to save and manage their health records. 
 
Giacomo Valle, MYLEG, ETH, medtech 
MYLEG is developing a device that restores sensory feedback to amputees by gently stimulating with pulses of current the skin of their remaining leg. The solution will enable users to avoid falls, increase confidence in the device and reduce fatigue.
 
Manjula Pasala, Riskwolf, insurtech 
Riskwolf ‘s platform uses real-time data-driven insights to help insurers to serve emerging market customers better. In India and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the platform allows insurers to close the protection gap for the digital economy. 

Stavros Skouras, Senopi, hightech 
Senopi specialises in wellness and therapeutic virtual reality (VR) for seniors and offers a system that enables nurses to use headsets to easily administer VR experiences and excursions to groups of seniors (e.g., in senior care homes). 
 
Fredrick Johnson Joseph, SurgeonsLab, UNIBE, medtech 
Surgeon’s Lab develops and produces high-end technology-based patient-specific training models for training surgical procedures and validating new medical devices as an alternative to human and animal models.

Thomas Gurry, Vesta Biosciences, UNIGE, biotech 
Vesta Biosciences develops a framework for rational modulation of the fermentation capabilities of an individual’s gut microbiota. The startup leverages a proprietary diagnostic technology that provides customers with personalized dietary fibre supplements. 
 
Elena Nedelkoska, WoDens, BFH, materials 
WoDens Technology offers a solution to modify sustainable domestic wood to create a new material that has similar appearance and properties as tropical wood. The startup offers customised colours according to the needs of the customers.
