Medica 2019, one of the largest medtech trade fairs will bring together more than 6,200 exhibitors and visitors from 170 countries. Switzerland will also make its presence with 81 companies including 14 Swiss startups. Innosuisse is sponsoring four startups.

From 18th to 21st November 2019, decision-makers, exhibitors, visitors and medical representatives from the global medical technology industry will gather in Düsseldorf for Medica, the largest medical trade fair to learn more about the increasing digitalisation of processes in the healthcare economy. The four-day event awaits almost 6200 exhibitors from more than 70 countries and visitors from 170 countries.

Besides opportunities for large companies, Medica is once again organizing the Startup Park to provide startups with a platform to meet investors and major companies, exchange ideas, and secure financing options. This year, 36 startups will exhibit their medical innovations. Among them are 14 Swiss startups – Noul, SAV-IOL, Aktiia, GaitUp, GreenTEG, Hocoma, Biovotion, Sontara, Tersaco, Wintercare, Intento, Sleepiz, Xsensio and Leitwert.

As part of its support program for startup participation at trade fairs, Innosuisse will sponsor four of the aforementioned startups in the Startup Park. These are:

Sleepiz – Developed a touchless device that captures vital signs of sleep disorders and the sleep environment data in real-time. The solution will help more than 1 billion people with sleeping disorders.

Xsensio – In partnership with the Nanoelectronic Devices Laboratory of EPFL (Nanolab) Xsensio developed a miniature-sized chip (25 mm2) collects sweat, based on microcapillarity forces, then reads and analyzes its composition in real-time to deliver information on dehydration and fatigue. The Lab-on-Skin sensing platform hence aims to extend the functionality of wearable devices with continuous monitoring of biochemical parameters on the skin’s surface.

Leitwert – through its Device Management Services (DMS), a secure digital enablement platform, Leitwert offers a platform that allows for automated data acquisition and continuous monitoring of patients whether in the hospital or at home. The IoT infrastructure hence closes the gap between wearable devices and all types of biosensors, and the clinical IT infrastructure.

Intento – develops a patient-controlled electrical-stimulation device and digital health solution to help treat arm and hand paralysis in stroke victims.  Unlike existing solutions, Intento uses functional electrical stimulation and hence does not require any prior knowledge on electrode placement.

The complete list of all exhibiting Swiss companies is available under  Medica exhibitors.
