Experienced serial-entrepreneur joins Microcity Startup Program

Early October Marc Thurner (Photo) took the Direction of the Startup Program at Microcity, the Incubator of the Canton of Neuchâtel. The Swiss entrepreneur is excited to contribute to the development of the local innovation ecosystem and support tech startups from the early phase to successful growth. Having co-founded several Swiss startups already, he knows that he can make a difference: “I hope that the experience I acquired from my diverse start-up creations – regenHU , Vivos Dental, Delta Robotics and mimiX biotherapeutics can help other entrepreneurs. And being challenged by such a diverse field of technology incubated at Microcity is an intellectual orgasm!”

The Swiss entrepreneur is very proud of the companies he has cofounded. Some are active and doing well - regenHU Ltd did it to top 5 global leaders in bioprinting - others were closed or merged. But all delivered significant value to their stakeholders. His latest creation mimiX Biotherapeutics deals with regenerative medicine and shows a signal for a bright future. The company headquartered in Neuchâtel made the news last week as it gets ready to take bioprinting in the Operating Room using sound.

For Marc Thurner, entrepreneurship involves daily learning, hard work and luck which you can provoke as it does not come alone. The entrepreneur believes that this is the uniqueness of successful entrepreneurs: the capacity to identify and exploit opportunities. His principal of learning is the value of PEOPLE. Some of his creations were launched thanks to exceptional people and others flopped due to incompetence; often driven by the management level, explains Marc. 

In the next months, Marc Thurner will be elaborating a strategic plan for Microcity Startup Program leveraging Switzerland exceptional ecosystem for entrepreneurs. Besides, he will also be supporting and coaching Microcity startups. Today 40 ventures and projects are incubated in Neuchâtel.
