EY Entrepreneur of the year Award goes to Flyability and beqom

Last Friday, four winners were crowned at the EY «Entrepreneur Of The Year» award ceremony. Among them are two younger companies: Flyability SA in the category Emerging entrepreneur and beqom SA in the category Service/Commerce. Beat Curti was honoured at the gala in Dübendorf as a "Master Entrepreneur".

The Entrepreneur of the Year Award organized by EY Switzerland recognizes outstanding entrepreneurial achievements in Switzerland. For this year’s edition, the jury nominated 45 candidates competing in four categories. During the award ceremony, an audience of 500 guests witnessed the awarding of the four winners in each category. Two category prizes went to two younger companies:

Flyability SA, category Emerging Entrepreneur
The two co-founders Patrick Thévoz (CEO) and Adrien Briod (and CTO) received the category accolade during the ceremony. With a team of 85 people, Flyability develops industrial drones that can safely reach remote, confined, and inaccessible spaces. The use cased of the solution include among others, industrial plants or nuclear power plants due to cost savings and safety issues as well as police and fire-fighting operations. Flyability was founded in 2014 and is based in Lausanne.

beqom SA, category Service/ Commerce
Fabio Ronga, CEO and co-founder of beqom won the category prize thanks to its software solutions for company-wide compensation management. Beqom, a B"B Saas Company developed a Total Compensation platform that integrates seamlessly with ERP and other systems to enable companies to address Performance and Compensation aspects such as wages, bonuses, commissions, stock option plans or other additional benefits. Today, beqom serves more than 100 companies globally across a wide range of industries. This year the company launched EasyPack, which addresses the problem of the gender pay gap. The company was founded in 2008 and is based in Nyon.

According to Stefan Rösch-Rütsche, Country Managing Partner at EY in Switzerland, the nominated entrepreneurs impressed the jury with their success, innovative strength, corporate and social commitment, their personality.

Beat Curti honoured as "Master Entrepreneur"
With the "Master Entrepreneur" award, the Entrepreneur Of The Year jury has the opportunity to honour outstanding personalities for their life's work. This year it is taking this opportunity again and granting the award to Dr Beat Curti. The Swiss entrepreneur and investor, born in 1937, was initially heavily involved in media (including Beobachter and Jean Frey Publishing) and the retail trade (including Pick Pay, Prodega and Bon Appétit Group). Today, his focus is on digital opportunities (including Software One and Goldbach Media) and real estate; he is also an art collector and supports various institutions and foundations with his wife Regula Curti. Beat Curti is co-founder of Software One, which went public last week. Software One
helps companies of all sizes design and implement their technology strategy, buy the right software and cloud solutions at the right price, and manage and optimize their software estate. In addition Curti has invested in start-ups. One example is Dagsmejan.
