Imverse LiveMaker

The EPFL spin-off has released a public beta of Imverse LiveMaker. The software-modeling tool enables users to transform any single 2D picture into a walkable and editable photorealistic 3D model.

Imverse is a specialist in 3D computer graphics. The startup uses its proprietary voxel-based rendering and a simulation graphics engine to develop software that facilitates production of VR content by up to ten times faster and cheaper than conventional solutions.

Based on their engine, the startup developed the Imverse LiveMaker, also referred to as the «photoshop of VR.» The tool provides an easy and fast process to transform a single 360°/2D picture into a fully editable 3D space and can achieve real-time volumetric capture of human holograms empowered with unique visual effects. The resulting 3D spaces can be used for visualizations in web browsers, and any VR or MR application they are optimized for: such as in the fields of entertainment, interactive media, gaming, previz, visual effects, education, simulation training, and virtual design to name a few.

“We want to empower the creators to build virtual reality content, without a big budget or special equipment,” said CEO and Imverse co-founder Javier Bello Ruiz. "Users can now access this disruptive technology to create the greatest ideas of virtual reality and mixed reality for the future.”

Additionally, users can import other 3D assets into the scene, manipulate the objects, textures, lighting, reflections, and material properties; as well as add videos, and all sorts of powerful editing to create a richer experience beyond a static environment.

The startup has launched the beta version of the Imverse LiveMaker thereby opening a new gate pass for the VR community to create content. The tool enables users to accelerate and gives some members across all graphics industries a starting point for experimenting with 3D and VR.

“Our Beta users already confirmed that we were filling a most needed gap, but the real validation was the invitation from SIGGRAPH to hold the first-ever VR workshop in VR, titled “Construct a Sample VR Environment From a 2D Photo Inside VR”, said CEO Javier Bello Ruiz.
