The IMD competition is once again looking for start-ups with outstanding business ideas. Up to 10 start-ups will be selected to work with the Executive MBA class and up to 15 start-ups to work with the IMD MBA class. Deadline for submission is 14th November 2016.
In collaboration with CTI/KTI, Venture Kick and investiere, IMD is searching for Swiss start-ups to benefit from the free-of-charge support from its MBA and EMBA students. The IMD competition provides a unique opportunity for regional start-ups to benefit from the help and insights from participants in the IMD MBA and the Executive MBA programs - highly talented, experienced and motivated individuals who have been carefully screened to participate in two of the running business programs.
Executive MBA program
Up to ten start-ups will be chosen to work with the two Executive MBA classes, a group of highly experienced managers (average age around 40 years old), who, in small teams, will analyse and challenge their business plans, teams and company strategies. EMBA members and a representative from each start-up will travel to Silicon Valley in September 2017 where the founders will pitch their start-ups to venture capitalists and angels. More information about the trip can be found in our article from September.
MBA program
Up to 15 start-ups will be selected and will receive the support of a team of 5 to 7 MBA participants over 3 months between end-January and April, under the supervision of an IMD Faculty member. The start-ups will work closely and intensively with MBA while focusing exclusively on business-related issues of the new venture, for instance, customer value proposition, supply-chain management, market entry strategies, among others. They will assist them to develop critical components of their business plan to a point where they can potentially be presented to new funding sources.
Eligible to apply are early-stage companies that have a solid chance of market success, have a team that is curious and willing to open themselves up to a small group of management "students" and to enter into both strategic and business model discussions, that can provide a good learning opportunity for the participants and whose timing fits with the IMD programs.
Registration closes on 14 November 2016. More information on the IMD website.
