The Swiss Startup Day has started with interesting introductions, the presentations of new initiatives and associations and the first pitching battle for investors.

The Swiss start-up ecosystem is evolving. More and more organisations are supporting start-ups and the interest from corporations in Swiss start-ups and their innovative products and services is growing. This is an encouraging development but some challenges arise too. For example start-ups would benefit from a better coordination of the several support offerings.

Three new organisations that were presented at the Swiss Startup Day try to provide a solution to this challenge:

The kick foundation coordinates and cross-links initiatives in Switzerland and consolidates the international network for the benefit of the Swiss entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem. More information about the foundation can be found on the website of the organisation and in an article on startupticker. Another article can be found in the Swiss Venture Guide which was published at the Swiss Startup Day.

DigitalZurich2025 is a cross-industry association, created from the shared vision of the founding members to make Zurich a leading location in Europe for digital innovation. Founding members are more than 20 organisations and corporations such as Ringier, EY, Google, UBS, Swisscom, SIX, Die Post, Wenger & Vieli, ETH Zurich and more.

Swiss Startup Association presented for the first time
The Swiss Startup Association was presented for the first time at the Swiss Startup Day. The association is planning to act as voice for the Swiss start-up scene. It will be active in the political field, connect start-ups to corporations and will also try to coordinate initiatives in the education and the finance field.

The Swiss Startup Association was founded officially two weeks ago and it is  now possible to become a member. Membership is free for Startups, Students and Startup Supporters. If you want to become a member send a mail to mike.baur@ssuf.ch

After the introduction the event continued with the first pitching battle for investors. More than 20 investors pitched to the audience from Acton Capital to Zühlke Ventures. The winner: Erika Puyal from ZKB.

We will continue to tweet about the event and will publish another article on our webpage too.
