Bcomp can further develop its technology for space applications thanks to two new grants. In addition important players from the automotive industry have shown a keen interest in Bcomp's technology at Composites Europe Fair last week.

Thanks to the highly promising results of last year's pre-study funded by the Swiss Space Center, Bcomp received two new grants from the Swiss Space Center and the European Space Agency (ESA) to further develop the powerRibs technology for space applications.

The projects will aim at characterizing the properties of structures made with powerRibs as a function of temperature and strain rate, modelling its dynamic properties, developping the processing for large scale production and reaching space quality standards of the final composite parts.

Thanks to its unique combination of high stiffness and damping, Bcomp's powerRibs technology has generated a lot of buzz at last week's Composites Europe Fair in Düsseldorf. Major automotive OEMs see a great potential for the technology to significantly reduce the weight of several automotive parts, simultaneously increasing the amount of bio-sourced material in today's cars.
