Kooaba, a spin-off from ETH, has customers around the world. Several of them reported about achievements recently.

Kooaba’s image recognition technology allows for identifying objects in images. Once objects are identified, we are able to provide additional information about them, e.g. related web-pages, description, tags etc. Several customers shared good news recently:

Denmark and US-based Vivino passed 2 million app downloads, and makes great app store rankings (Top 10 overall in Switzerland, Top 1 in Food and Drinks in several countries).

Speaking of wine: Switzerland-based Flaschenpost added wine label recognition to their mobile app, and allows for ordering wines directly from the app.

In Australia, Dan Murphy’s launched a new app including wine recognition.

Finally, in Germany kooaba's partner Lösch Medienmanufaktur was awarded with the Gold Award of the German Print Industry Innovation Award in the category cross-media interaction. The prize was awarded for making a Tupperware cook book interactive.

Kooaba was founded in 2006 by Herbert Bay, Till Quack and Prof. Luc Van Gool. The company is based in Zurich.
