Vaud based Droople and Fileder Filter Systems Ltd, one of the UK's largest Process Filtration & Water Treatment product suppliers, just announced their collaboration in the development of a tailor-made smart filtration solution that includes a wide range of products from Droople.

Swiss Water intelligence startup Droople is gathering momentum. The recent winner of the « Les Mérites de l'Economie Riviera-Lavaux » Award just announced a promising collaboration in the development of a tailor-made smart filtration with Fileder Filter Systems Ltd, a major supplier in the process filtration and water treatment in the UK and Europe.

As Ramzi Bouzerda, Droople’s CEO & founder explains, Fileder was introduced to his startup through the network of Rik Seger, the Water Industry Expert & member of the company's Advisory Board. Fileder expressed strong interest in the startup solution but required to start a technical proof with Delta Pressure monitoring which was not on Droople’s roadmap at that time, in June 2020. Three months later the company was able to demonstrate the outcome of its new Delta pressure monitoring kit for their sediment filters massively used in breweries, chemical & pharmaceutical facilities. This solution is used to assess the health of a system by monitoring pressure at the inlet, outlet and water usage.

Setting a foot in the UK and Europe

This partnership is particularly important for the Swiss startup. Ramzi Bourzerda explains:
“This deal is very important as it enables us to deploy a new product based on iLink + SmartHub + 2 pressure sensors for this kind of water filtration systems. Secondly, Fileder is one of the largest supplier & distributor of water filtration systems in the UK but also in Germany (15mio GBP Turnover on Filtration, 80% UK, 20% Europe). Through Fileder, we access a large market in the EU.” The next step for Droople is to deploy its solution on premise in order to confirm its benefits for Fileders' customers but due to the UK lockdown the company will have to wait until January 2021.

Fileder is not yet a paying customer but it will become one, once Droople starts the deployment of three pilots in January 2021. Ramzi Bouzerda further adds: “We always take on our side the technical demonstration of our solution on our bench test (most of the time the lead send us their product in order to test them at our offices) and once we have cleared this step we enter in pilot testing where we apply our business model (SaaS including hardware).”

In the weeks to come the Puidoux based startup has a busy program. Recently, the company defined the business and technical requirements it needs to start the 3 pilots in January. Fileder is working on those requirements and should get back to the Droople in December or January. Meanwhile both parties are discussing pricing & how they are going to integrate Droople’s solution in their operating processes. Interestingly, the company has in its pipeline other similar smart water filtration projects around the world.
