The FIT jury has chosen to support KickTheMap with a FIT Digital Grant of CHF 20’000. The Lausanne based startup is developing a new mobile photogrammetry service to be launched officially at Christmas.

Founded in April 2019 by Jérémie Locquet and Alexis Roze KickTheMap is dedicated to making 3D modeling easier. Its mobile application helps to simplify, accelerate the capturing and processing of georeferenced data cost-effectively.

Available already on iOS, KickTheMap allows anyone to model objects, homes or grounds of any size. The mobile application provides access to a 3D scanning solution designed to meet the needs of various professionals including landscape architects, civil engineers who require reliable data. Costing two to three times cheaper than a traditional report, KickTheMap also saves time in the execution of projects, making it innovative and attractive.

The platform is already generating a lot of interest among small businesses that have the ability to make quick decisions. The two co-founders met last week with a company that has to model several bridges abroad. For them, the decision to use KickTheMap was made in less than a week. Measurement time, equipment clutter and price are the main factors that decided the customer.

The KickTheMap app will be launched officially this Christmas on Apple's App Store. An Android version will follow in 2020. In the next 6 months, both cofounders will continue to strengthen their startup's customer base. Although the market potential is large, KickTheMap intends to focus mainly on civil engineering at the beginning. Rail, architecture and hydrology are also tested, but its CEO Jérémie Locquet recognizes that the company will probably have to complete its team to meet all the needs of its customers.

The funds awarded by FIT will allow KickTheMap to carry out its project. “FIT’s support is invaluable in enabling us to realize our vision and democratize 3D reality capture,” explained Jérémie Locquet, after the FIT jury session.
