On Friday during the closing event of the Kickstart program, CSEM presented AirBie a cheque of CHF 20’000 as part of its Award programs to support startups on their deeptech journey.

The 2019 edition of Kickstart program ended on last week and several startups in the program walked away with a single or multiple PoC; AirBie, the Zurich based startup focusing on promoting bike-sharing in cities, was not one. Instead, the startup received the CSEM Award Prize, as part of CSEM’s support to startups that are developing outstanding technology solutions. AirBie will have the opportunity to use the facilities and infrastructure of CSEM to enhance its solution further.

Founded in 2018, AirBie developed a smart bike lock, which fits any bike, such that anyone can create a bike-sharing fleet in a few minutes and manage it with their smart city analytics software. The Lock has a built-in GPS, LoRaWAN and Bluetooth to facilitate tracking of fleets. With its crypto E-bikes model, the company seeks to promote bike-sharing as a means of transportation especially in cities.

The solution has been positively accepted in the community. Following a successful pilot with the city of Zug, AirBie launched its smart Locks allowing city dwellers to benefit from the service. Moreover, individuals with a Blockchain-based ID can register to access the bicycle-sharing services.
