SMART VALOR, Zug based blockchain startup dedicated to enabling borderless crypto finance, was selected to join the Thomson Reuters Labs in Zug. The startup office was relocated to Zug. Additionally, Olga Feldmeier, the CEO of the startup announced that the startup raised CHF 1.5 million from the Swiss investors. The funds will facilitate further development of the platform.

Established in February 2017, Smart Valor built a decentralized marketplace for tokenized alternative investments backed by secure custody for crypto assets. By combining privacy and security of a leading banking center with the accessibility and diversity of the blockchain-based open network, the startup built a protocol for the Smart Valor Network, a distributed public ledger for issuance and distribution of investment solutions. The platform allows issuers in the decentralized network – investors, asset issuers, funds and facilitators – to interact and exchange values globally, in a seamless and simple way. The participating entities are aligned along smart-contract-based incentive mechanisms.

“I have done this before - for the largest worldwide Bitcoin custodian, which we relocated from Silicon Valley to Switzerland. Now with Smart Valor we are going one step further and extending the space of crypto assets beyond Bitcoin,” says Olga Feldmeier, CEO of Smart Valor.

Smart Valor has already realized the first regulatory case enabling Bitcoin custodianship in Switzerland.

Recently, having been selected by Thomson Reuters, Smart Valor’s office is now situated in Zug at Thomson Reuters Labs, which was opened in July. With this selection, Smart Valor becomes one of the first members to enter Thomson Reuter’s start-up incubator.

“Thomson Reuters provides professionals with the intelligence, technology and human expertise they need to find trusted answers. We enable professionals in the financial and risk, legal, tax and accounting, and media markets to make the decisions that matter most, all powered by Thomson Reuters”, adds Feldmeier.

Additionally, Smart Valor has raised an initial funding round of CHF1.5 million from the Swiss investors including Stephane Pictet and Marius Messerli, and from global industry leaders such as Markus Rinderer and Denis Shulakov. The funds will be used to further develop its platform.
