Nokia Sensing XCHALLENGE is a global competition to develop breakthrough medical sensing technologies that will ultimately enable faster diagnoses and easier personal health monitoring. Biovotion has been selected as one of the Distinguished Award winners.

Biovotion has won one of the five $120,000 Distinguished Awards at the Nokia Sensing XCHALLENGE. The winners were selected with an online voting campaign accounting for 10% of a team’s overall score, and with the remainder evaluated by a judging panel comprised of digital health and medical industry experts. This was the second of two consecutive, separate competitions in the Nokia Sensing XCHALLENGE.

Biovotion was awarded for its motion tolerate and clinical grade physiological multisensor platform (VSM), user interfaces and the versatility shown with this ecosystem.

Biovotion is the first Swiss company that has made it into the final of an XPrize competition and then receiving an award.

“Biovotion has won a number of awards and prices in the past that have helped the company tremendously. But this prestigious XPrize award is a very particular honour and great satisfaction to us as a team as well as us a company”, says Andreas Caduff, CEO of Biovotion.

“Going through the rigorous process was tough and demanded a lot of attention from us. It has pushed us as a company to structure a complex message in a very systematic way and carefully reflect on how we wanted to present us” says Stephan Bachofen, responsible project coordinator for Biovotion’s NSXC/XPrize activities.

Biovotion AG is a Swiss medical device and digital health company, developing a wearable, medical-grade vital sign monitoring platform – ‘hospital on the arm’. The platform consists of a comfortably wearable, easy-to-use device, cloud-based services and applications with advanced user interfaces. The company has industry-leading expertise and holds intellectual property in the field of biosensors, algorithm development and the transformation of data into relevant medical feedback, also known as “actionable information.” The team’s established experience   has been integral in the platform’s development path of medical-grade vital sign monitoring to hydration and glucose monitoring. The platform is able to deliver medical-grade data quality under motion and in everyday life. This allows it to serve applications in both the medical field, as well as general consumer monitoring.
