Two promising high-tech startups deserved the support of the venture kick jury and got awarded with CHF 20’000 each. One provides the freedom to sit to workers in labour sector, the other develops augmented reality eyewear with discreet design.

At the latest venture kick jury session Composyt Light Labs convinced the venture kick jury. You might know the augmented reality eyewear from Google, the google glasses, but what Mickaël Guillaumée and Eric Tremblay created reaches the next level. They developed smart glasses which provide more than a 40degree field of view in the smallest possible form. But winner Eric Tremblay knows, that an idea is not enough: "venture kick is about kicking, and in our case the venture kick experts kicked two guys fully dedicated to technology to get out of the lab and figure out the business side of their venture." We are thrilled to observe who’s developing further and faster in the field of the augmented reality eyewear: the big players or the small startup from Lausanne.

The second supported project is the Chairless Chair from ETH-startup noonee. Their futuristic looking leg exoskeleton enables factory workers to relax their muscles and sit down during work - without the need for a chair. The device is worn on the legs and allows the user freedom to walk or run, but once activated, the Chairless Chair holds the users’ bodyweight in the positions he wants to. The lightweight mechatronic device helps to relieve the stress on leg muscles and joints and helps to reduce healthcare and  associated costs. It is indeed a chair that walks with you. Co-founder and CEO Keith Gunura: “venture Kick is fun, amazing and needed experience for many entrepreneurs like us. We have learnt a lot through their kickers camp and see them as the boot that kicks the ball in right direction of the goal. We plan to use the VK Funds to do more promotional activities with valued pilot customers while travelling to the factory workplaces to get a better understanding of the user needs and how we can best optimise the Chairless Chair for them.”
