Amplo secured its first investment from high-profile business angels. Its smart maintenance platform enables service engineers without machine learning knowledge to use sensor data for AI-based industry 4.0 applications. The funds will facilitate the company’s growth in European markets.

Today, many industrial machines are connected to the cloud, sending and storing valuable sensor data. Amplo, a SaaS startup using machine learning to understand customers’ machines and production lines, offers a Smart Maintenance Platform that allows service engineers to use this data and develop useful services such as Predictive Maintenance or Automated Diagnostics. The platform covers the full lifecycle of machine learning development and requires no machine learning knowledge.

According to the startup, the plug and play solution will enable midsize companies to save up to $1 million a year while increasing employee and customer satisfaction and gathering easy-to-understand insights on all machines. Among its first customers is Tritium, one of the largest manufacturers of advanced and reliable DC fast chargers for electric vehicles. Using Amplo, they significantly reduce downtime of their chargers, which leads to a superior charging experience for their customers.

The startup’s three co-founders (Oliver Keel, Niels Uitterdijk and Tanja Koch) are now set to expand throughout Europe, thanks to the closing of its first financing round. High profile business angels, including Manuel Grenacher (Co-Founder Unique, Founder & Board Member Coresystems), Flavio Pfaffhauser (Co-Founder, Beekeeper) and part of the founding team of Yokoy, participated in the round. The funding will also be used to further enhance the technologies underpinning the platform to stay at the cutting-edge of its AI, automation and security systems.

“Industrial companies are losing money because they cannot fix their assets fast. Amplo allows one to easily get all the insights to service machines in a smarter way without any prior knowledge in coding or AI”, said serial entrepreneur and industry expert Grenacher.

Amplo has an edge over other players; it can deal with any type of machine. Investor Flavio Pfaffhauser underlines this “For the past two years, Amplo has worked closely with strong customers to develop a no-code machine learning platform to solve their challenges. It is great to see first traction and the customer centricity in the founding team.”
