Going global
Lausanne IT company NEXThink has collected $40 million in funding and wants to go public in the next two years. Read our interview with co-founder Pedro Bados.
Further financing rounds: two companies gained new money from private investors last week – semiconductor company Attolight and biotech company Topadur. Cleantech firm Green Motion has found a strategic investor: its deal with the Chinese Zhongding Group is part of a licensing agreement that may bring a breakthrough in the world’s second largest car market for Swiss e-mobility technology.
Exits and acquisitions: online shopping club eboutic has been acquired by the French vente-privee.com. BuddyBroker has been taken over by the German networking platform XING. Conversely, young Lausanne cloud hosting provider Exoscale has taken over Berlin-based cloudControl.
Press review: journalists love facts and figures, and when it comes to the Swiss start-up scene the Swiss Venture Capital Report delivers. It’s quoted regularly by newspapers, radio and television.
Label: last week five start-ups received the CTI Start-up Label – the three medtech companies rqmicro, Rheon Medical and One Drop Diagnostics, ICT company Insightness and biotech start-up Versantis.
Outlook: next Thursday, everything will revolve around the Startup Champions at EPFL’s Rolex Learning Center. In the afternoon, the 20 venture leaders 2016 will be presented, in the evening the EPFL Alumni Seed Night takes place. My colleague Stefan Kyora will be at both events.
Have a good weekend.
