Swiss Medtech Day 2021

Today, Swiss Medtech kicks off the competition for the Swiss Medtech Award 2022. The industry’s coveted prize for innovation will be awarded for the fifth time next year. Applicants have even more reason to be pleased: the prize money has increased from the original 50,000 to 75,000 Swiss francs.

Swiss Medtech calls on the Swiss medtech industry to submit their innovative products and services for next year’s Swiss Medtech Award. Much has changed since it was first launched in 2018: Former winners including Ava, Cascination, Rheon and Scewo are now conquering world markets. Candidature entries have doubled. Attendee numbers congratulating the winner at the annual Swiss Medtech Day has grown to over 600.

The sponsors Lichtsteiner Foundation, Straumann Group and Ypsomed have now been joined by Sonova – enabling Swiss Medtech to increase prize money from CHF 50,000 to CHF 75,000. Sonova Holding AG, based in Staefa, is an internationally active group of Swiss companies which specialise in hearing solutions. «The Swiss Medtech Award gains in importance with each passing year. This is also demonstrated by our partnership with the four sponsors. I am very pleased by this strong commitment to the industry,» says Peter Biedermann, Managing Director of Swiss Medtech.

The Swiss Medtech Award recognises outstanding achievements in the Swiss medical technology industry. The jury, chaired by Prof. Mirko Meboldt, ETH Zurich, evaluates candidates in a two-stage process looking at: patient benefits, advancements in healthcare, and pioneering technological spirit. Between five and seven companies make it to the shortlist, and three move on to the final. The winning team is always announced and honoured at the annual Swiss Medtech Day, the most important event of the Swiss medical technology industry.
