Four Swiss startups have impressed juries and audiences with their solutions for the legal, fintech, drone and energy solutions. The award prizes once more denote the relevance and role of the Swiss startup ecosystem on global landscape.

The Claims Rockstar Awards 2021 organised by the New Players Network and Versicherungsforen Leipzig presented at the Claims Management & Assistance trade fair congress, went to Swiss Legaltech startup Legal-I, which impressed the jury and the audience with its innovative idea in claims management. Founded two years ago, the startup achieves efficiency gains of 40 percent in the settlement of complex personal injury claims at Swiss insurance companies by processing documents from medical insurance claims with artificial intelligence and presenting them in a user interface optimized for personal injury specialists.

Vestr and Apiax – WealthTechAsia Awards 2021
Showcasing ‘best of breed’ in Asia, the WealthTechAsia awards recognise outstanding organisations grouped by specialism and geography, which the panel of independent judges deemed to have ‘demonstrated innovation and excellence during the year’. Swiss startup Vestr won the Structured Products Solution category. The startup’s platform provides issuers of Actively Managed Certificates (AMCs) with the first independent software engine to digitize the value chain of active investment products. The Innovative Compliance/RegTech Product category prize went to Apiax, the startup helping financial institutions to grow their businesses faster with compliance automation.

Fotokite – Extreme Tech Challenge
Selected out of 3,700 applicants from 80 countries, Fotokite is one the seven main winners of the Extreme Tech Challenge (XTI competition), sweeping away the Smart cities category prize. Fotokite helps public safety teams save lives with elevated and actionable intelligence at the push of a button. Aliunid – Energiewende Award 2021
Thanks to its user-friendly smart home or smart business solution, Aliunid has won the Energiewende Award 2021. Founded in 2018, the Cleantech startup aliunid works with real-time data to record, optimize and control energy flows. The goal is a flexible "breathing supply system" from the electricity meter to the transformer to the pumped storage power plant. Together with aliunid, energy suppliers and distribution network operators are building up digital competencies; energy suppliers can offer their end customers real-time solutions that save electricity, improve the carbon footprint and increase security and convenience while distribution network operators increase the stability and efficiency of their network. With already 25 companies in its network, the startup benefits from the support of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy, the ETH, the Empa, the Bern University of Applied Sciences and the HES-SO Valais, the EU's Horizon 2020 research programme and, since August 2021, the Technology Fund of the Swiss Confederation.
