Volumina Medical has been selected by the StartLab Advisory Board to enter the life sciences incubator at the Biopôle. The startup joins Haya Therapeutics and Gnubiotics Sciences in the newly inaugurated SE-B building. Entrepreneurs who wish to be part of the new incubator can apply until June 30th.

One year after winning the PERL Trophy in Beaulieu, Volumina Medical becomes the 3rd member of the brand new StartLab Incubator in Epalinges, at the Biopôle Lausanne. The Vaud biotech startup develops AdiPearl, the scaffold solving the problem of natural repair of 3D soft tissues.

“We are very thrilled to join the StartLab Incubator and Biopôle Community. We look forward to creating synergies in this new environment” explains Amélie Béduer, CEO Volumina Medical.

Each year, about one million patients suffer from the loss of soft tissue volume, for example: muscles, adipose tissues, glandular tissues. Soft tissue loss may occur from trauma, tumor ablation, or simply aging processes. The loss of soft tissue is frequently permanent and causes disfiguring tissue depression, which can not only have an impact cosmetically, but also functionally.

Volumina Medical offers a potential alternative to current treatment methods through the development of a regenerative medicine approach where a biomaterial scaffold facilitates tissue regeneration in the defect area, enabling minimally invasive repair of 3D volumes in a single injection session.

Companies interested in becoming the next venture admitted in the StartLab community can apply until June 30th. The access to incubator is pending the admission of their candidature by StartLab Advisory Board.
