As part of its innovation drive, Swiss insurance company Groupe Mutuel is launching Innopeaks, an open innovation hub entirely devoted to developing start-ups in the healthtech, fintech and insurtech sectors. The Deeptech accelerator will benefit from the expertise of Fintech Fusion and Idiap Research Center. Pre-registration is open now.
During the course of this year, start-ups will be selected and invited to spend three months in Martigny, in the heart of the Swiss Alps, from October 2018. They will receive top-class coaching and all of the infrastructure they need to thrive. The programme is open to start-ups with an existing business model which need support and development (acceleration) and to those offering new technology, which are currently lacking clients and a business model (incubation).
«Innovation is a key strategy for the next few years,» said Karin Perraudin, President of Groupe Mutuel. Innopeaks gives start-ups the opportunity to help make great strides in the areas of healthtech, fintech and insurtech, with a view to redesigning the health and insurance ecosystem.
For this ambitious, innovative project, Innopeaks is joining forces with leading partners. The Idiap Research Center, known globally for its work on artificial intelligence (AI) and biometrics, will be providing Innopeaks with a home.
«We are very happy to be partnering with Groupe Mutuel and Fusion for this project. Start-ups will benefit from Idiap’s global research into artificial intelligence, algorithms and deep tech, which will substantially accelerate their technologies and products,» said François Foglia, Deputy Director of the Idiap Research Center.
Fusion, the other partner boasting recognised expertise and knowledge, is a leading fintech incubator in Switzerland and will operate the accelerator.
«As a hub for deep tech such as artificial intelligence, blockchain and the Internet of Things, Innopeaks will help drive the Swiss ecosystem forward,» said Sal Matteis, CEO of Fusion.
Innopeaks is open to start-ups from around the world. Each year, it will select a dozen innovative projects dealing with the challenges and changes facing healthcare and health insurance – customer experience, healthcare technology, prevention, patient health journey, IOT, genetics – by using technology such as artificial intelligence, blockchain and data analytics.
Innopeaks provides concrete support for start-ups in a range of ways, from access to the Swiss market – one of the most mature and innovative in the world – to collaborations with Swiss health insurance experts, proximity to the best international researchers in AI, coaching from experienced, visionary mentors, a Swiss funding model supported by Fusion, and backing from IBM Watson, Amazon AWS and Google.
Pre-Registration is open now.
