The Virtual and Mixed Reality startup CREAL3D (picture) and the Innovative Active Noise Cancellation Technology (ANC) project AVAtronics, have each received a seed loan of CHF 100’000. The funds will be used for the next development stages.

The Foundation for Technological innovation (FIT) provides seed loans to innovative companies of different stages that are based in the Western part of Switzerland. Recently two startups have entered the FIT alumni.

CREAL3D: True depth immersion in Virtual Reality (picture above)
Today's Virtual Reality goggles use two flat screens, which creates 3D images with a wrong focus. This leads to an unpleasant eyestrain as well as a drastically reduced depth immersion. The resulting discomfort holds back the entire Virtual and Mixed Reality (VR/MR) industry.

The startup's light‐field technology allows creating virtual images with a realistic depth perception, which enables users to focus on objects at different distances and, for mixed reality applications, to seamlessly blend virtual and real worlds. Targeted at VR/MR hardware manufacturers, CREAL3D’s technology can be applied in gaming and entertainment. Their ultimate goal is to develop smart glasses that could be used as the smartphone screens of tomorrow. Thanks to the new FIT loan, CREAL3D will now be able to further develop its products and secure key industry partnerships.

AVAtronics: Minimize unwanted audio noise for a better hearing quality
The EPFL Alumni team of AVAtronics develops a high performance Digital Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology, which minimizes unwanted audio noise in consumer electronics devices equipped with microphones and speakers. Targeted at product manufacturers under license, the innovative solution can be used in voice and hearing communication products such as phones, teleconferencing, smartphones, TVs, smart speakers, connected homes or cars, headphones and hearing aid devices.

The new loan from the FIT will help AVAtronics finance the ongoing laboratory test and evaluations by a first top tier headphone manufacturer, and hit all the necessary licensing and negotiation milestones.
