Healthcare India Tour

Swissnex India invites Swiss medtech startups and supporters interested in learning about the Indian Medtech and Healthcare market to a week-long medtech tour in Mumbai and Bangalore. Experts and founders see a great potential for Swiss products in the Indian market. The trip provides an avenue for discovering new opportunities and collaborations in India.

“India has become one of the leading destinations for medical tourism prompting high capital investment for diagnostic and curative technologies”, says Swetha Suresh, Medtech expert, Senior Manager, Innovation & Lifesciences at swissnex India. “For Swiss medical technologies, the segment is a big opportunity given their precision, accuracy and reliability.”

For this reason, and to provide further insights of India’s medtech industry, swissnex India has organized a week-long tour for ten selected Swiss medtech and healthcare startups or managing partners with a product or service targeted for the Indian market or have an interest to produce in India. Also, startup enablers including incubators, tech parks, and academic staff working on technology transfer and want to learn about the Indian medtech and healthcare market are invited to participate. The trip will take place from October 3rd to 8th 2017.

Stefan Stübinger, founder Di Meliora and Ad Mirabiles, was a participant in last year’s trip. Stübinger comments "India is a great potential for a mutual exchange and collaboration with Switzerland in the field of Medtech and Biotech, the country provides ideal and sustainable incentives for a fruitful and long-lasting start-up culture."

This year's medtech and healthcare startup tour will acquaint participating startups across ecosystems in Bangalore and Mumbai. swissnex will organize two specific meetings, and host a regulatory workshop with government officials. Participants will also visit and interact with key opinion leaders in the medtech and healthcare field in India to enable them build relationships, and they will meet potential local partners and customers such that they can adapt their business model, product or service to the Indian market.

In addition, participating startups will have the opportunity to exhibit at India's biggest medical equipment expo, Medicall. swissnex India which hosted 75 exhibitors and 1500 visitors last year. Startup tour participants will have the opportunity to gain a comprehensive insight of the Indian medical sector; showcase products /prototypes directly to medical community and connect with the right people for successfully entering the market.

The program is free of charge for participating startups, however, travel, accommodation, food and insurance fees are a responsibility of the participants. CTI startups may be eligible for a one-time travel stipend from the Gebert Rüf Stiftung for up to 2 people (2 x CHF1000).
