Zurich start-ups represent Swiss ingenuity in New York

Performing and visual artists, scientists and urban planners, public intellectuals and researchers will come together to examine the far-reaching influence of one of Europe’s great cities, as New York hosts Zürich Meets New York: A Festival of Swiss Ingenuity, May 16-23. In all, 25 events will engage audiences in panels and performances highlighting the contemporary relevance of visionary movements and ideas born in Zurich and their impact on American culture.

One of the events is called “meet the start-ups”, a unique event designed to help educate, inspire and connect entrepreneurs from both New York and Zurich. Carefully selected start-ups share their story with the community and tell the audience about their game-changing ideas and innovations. It is an amazing opportunity to learn from the best Zurich has to offer, to network with members of the start-up community from Zurich and New York, to meet investors and policy makers, and improve your chances of entrepreneurial success.

In addition to this start-up event there will be a demonstration in Central Park with the running shoe On. People from New York can learn more about the latest running shoe innovation at the Central Park Run. Invented by an ETH engineer and tested in ETH research, the On running shoe has been hailed as revolutionary by The Wall Street Journal. More than five World Champions, including Olympic Gold Medalist Nicola Spirig, have won races with the On, making it one of the fastest growing running brands in the US. A short presentation about the running technology will precede the race.

Zürich Meets New York: A Festival of Swiss Ingenuity is presented by the Consulate General of Switzerland in New York, the City of Zurich, ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich (UZH).
