iKentoo, a start-up from Geneva, has developed a complete ePOS solution specifically designed for restaurants, bars and take aways. According to a report in Le Matin Dimanche the company is successful in Switzerland, Italy and France and was able to raise CHF1.8 million.

In September of 2011, after having identified how little the Points of Sales market had evolved in the past 20 years, Serge Sozonoff and David Clerc founded iKentoo. Bolstered by their software development experience (Zong, IBM), associated to the expertise of POS professionals, they create the iKentoo solution, transforming the iPad and iPod Touch into an enterprise grade POS solution. Their objective: to propose a POS solution for the catering industry that is both intuitive and affordable and includes the functionalities of an enterprise grade POS solution.

With the iKentoo software an iPad becomes a good replacement option for touch screen POS systems, while an iPod Touch/iPhone can be used as a mobile ordering interface by the waiters. The iKentoo POS client interacts with the iKentoo web infrastructure. Users can access their secure ”back-office” interface from any computer connected to the Internet. This secured environment grants managers the ability to visualize, in real-time, the activity of their restaurant(s), configure the iPads and iPods, change the menu, access statistics as well as daily reports.

According to a recent report in Le Matin Dimanche the company has started successfully. It launched its product in autumn 2012. The solution is now used not only in Switzerland but also in France and Italy. In addition iKentoo was able to raise CHF 1.8m for financing future growth.
