MassChallenge Switzerland announces 2022 cohort

100 start-ups have been invited to join the accelerator program in Switzerland. Among the participants from 4 continents are 18 Swiss start-ups. All companies are committed to sustainability.

The 100 selected start-ups for the online/on-site hybrid accelerator program represent the top 9% of applications from around the world ranked by 261 MC experts. The companies come from 37 countries. “I’m pleased to welcome this outstanding group of start-ups to the 2022 early-stage accelerator. They all want to make an impact that will add value back to society. Congratulations to them all and I’m looking forward to connecting them to our partners and mentors, so that together the MassChallenge community can help them grow their businesses”, says Matt Lashmar, Managing Director of MassChallenge Switzerland, part of MassChallenge’s global network of innovators.

Among the participants are 18 Swiss start-ups from several verticals. These include:  

Food and Agritech

Cultivated Biosciences: Creamy fat from GMO-free yeast. The indulgence plant-based dairy needs to appeal flexitarians.

Gaia Technologies GmbH: develops decentralized treatment and valorization of agricultural side-streams to high-value ingredients while promoting full circularity.

Kly: Swiss upcycling startup with a mission to tackle food waste by eliminating resource inefficiencies in global grain production.

Novani: a FoodTech startup developing a cost-effective extrusion process to make realistic whole-cut meat alternatives like steaks & chicken breasts.

Healthcare and Life Sciences

FimmCyte: develops a novel immune-based treatment for treatment-resistant endometriosis.

HEALTHY-LONGER: provide personalized preventive nutrition recommendations based on forward-looking health risk analysis using biomarkers and genetics.

InnoSpina: designs and develops novel implants and unique surgical guiding instruments enabling surgeons to treat chronic back pain in less than 30min.

SensArs Neuroprosthetics: highly selective peripheral nerve stimulators for the treatment of neuropathic pain and sensory loss of people affected by neuropathy.

Hightech

ARHUB: developer of a proactive security solution intended to identify, prevent and predict security breaches at homes and buildings.

Chiral: nanotransistors are key components in quantum computers and IoT sensors. Today, they are produced manually. Chiral can produce them 100x faster.

Isochronic: develops a new type of industrial robot for pick & place applications, capable of transporting multiple parts simultaneously.

General

Green Future Logistics: builds a SaaS to manage transportation in a more sustainable way by promoting collaboration and optimization.

Xegate - Project Arcadia: with their Arcadia process, the company recycles concrete and wood waste, into objects of many shapes. 

Energy / Climate Tech

Basebike: convenient battery charging stations network for e-bikers.

InstaHeat: developed a new kind of heating device that can heat any conductive fluid instantly and precisely to the desired temperature. This device generates heat directly within the fluid, eliminating the need for a heating element.

Rheiazymes: helps to decarbonize industries with hard-to-recycle material mixes by using enzymes to recover raw materials from waste.

Voltiris: improves greenhouses’ energetic efficiency by producing clean electricity without impacting their high agricultural yield.

 

Social Impact

Composite Recycling: developed an innovative technology to close the loop on glass fiber reinforced plastics in boats, wind turbines, etc.
