A stage for Swiss startups

Once again, Swiss startups have stood out in global competitions for their innovative ideas. V-labs, Taurus and IndyGuide have received accolades, recognising their drone, fintech and tourism industry solutions, while Depoly, EH Group and Akselos are recognised for their cleantech solutions.

V-Labs: MyGalileoSolution & MyGalileoDrone

Based in Geneva, V-Labs offers an Augmented Reality solution for visualising, measuring and modifying geospatial data with centimetre accuracy in seconds. V-Labs is one of the three top companies in the MyGalileoSolution category of the MyGalileoSolution & MyGalileoDrone competitions, organised by the European GNSS Agency (GSA). The jury chose the winners based on their innovative use of key Galileo differentiators, their market-oriented approach, and their wide uptake potential. MyGalileoSolution is the biggest competition ever organised by the GSA, with a prize pool of almost EUR 1.5 million shared by 50 teams, including the six finalists, with awards ranging from EUR 15,000 to EUR 60,000. 

Taurus: CFI.co Awards
Taurus wins Best Digital Asset Infrastructure provider Award 2021 by CFI.co. The Swiss finch startup Taurus has joined the list of companies including the London Stock Exchange, UBS or IBM that have previously won the Digital Asset Infrastructure provider Award organised by CFI.co. The Awards aim to identify and reward the excellence of individuals and organisations. Founded in 2018 in Geneva, Taurus built a complete digital asset platform and launched one of the world’s first regulated digital asset exchanges. Clients, including banks, exchanges, technology providers and asset owners and managers, can digitalise and tokenise private assets and manage cryptocurrency assets within a simple, secure, next-generation infrastructure. Taurus has claimed more than half of its home market share and will use future funding rounds to fuel its expansion plans. 

IndyGuide: Startup Innovation BootCamp 
The START-UP INNOVATION CAMP 2021, organised by the World Tourism Forum Lucerne, has announced the global finalists participating in a five-day bootcamp and present ideas during the Innovation Festival in April from 25 -30 in Andermatt. IndyGuide from Switzerland is one of the selected companies in the category 'exploring' and the only company from Switzerland. The startup connects guests and hosts for a life-changing experience in underrated destinations. The startup offers more than 15 destinations. 

Depoly and iSense: Plug and Play
The Swiss Cleantech startup Depoly chemically recycles low valued post-consumer PET plastic waste back to its highly valued original chemical components, while the foodtech startup iSense helps food and beverage manufacturers to optimize their flavour cost and accelerate their flavour choice. Both companies are among the 98 startups joining the Plug and Play spring batch for a three-month acceleration. As a global innovation platform, the program exposes participants to its network consisting of over 30,000 startups, 500 industry-leading corporate partners, and hundreds of venture capital firms and investors. Throughout the next three months, the selected startups will have the opportunity to virtually meet with this ecosystem in private deal flow sessions, networking events, mentor sessions, focus weeks, and more to increase their chance to land exclusive pilots, POCs, new customers, and investment. There is no equity requirement for startups to participate. 

EH Group, Akselos: NREL Industry Growth Forum
The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Industry Growth Forum will host 40 startups worldwide, including EH Group and Akselos from Switzerland, to present their cleantech solutions. EH group will present its patented fuel cell technology for stationary and mobile applications to facilitate cost-effectively fuel cell solutions. Simultaneously, Akselos will also showcase its predictive structural digital twins for large asset’s integrity management. The solution aims to speed up the mega-scale deployment of offshore wind turbines by lowering the cost of energy, and making infrastructure more resilient, with condition-based monitoring and predictive maintenance at the centre of their efforts.
