The Foundation for Technological Innovation (FIT) has granted Eyeware a seed loan of CHF 100’000. The startup provides solutions for increasing human-machine engagement using 3D eye tracking.

The Idiap spin-off Eyeware, is developing solutions based on artificial intelligence technology to facilitate direct interaction between humans and machines through 3D eye tracking. Integrated with its computer vision algorithms, human vision is monitored in order to capture their attention, intention, and interest and identify the objects they are looking at in a certain context or environment. The collected information enables machines to become more aware of their environment and to interact accordingly with the users.

The solution can used across a wide range of applications such as in retail store to assess consumer behaviour, as a “virtual mouse” for paraplegic people to use their computer hands-free or to facilitate proactive assistance with robots and cars. Prototypes for cars, robots and computers are already available and soon, Eyeware will launch two new prototypes for the assistive technology market and for research in the field of social behaviour.

The obtained FIT loan will be used for the development of new products and to file all necessary patents such as for the computer vision algorithms.
