The Swisscom StartUp Challenge is being held for the fifth successive year. The program provides five selected early and later stage tech start-ups the opportunity to join a tailor-made week-long business acceleration program in Silicon Valley. Registration is now open.

The fifth Swisscom StartUp Challenge is organized to provide startups the opportunity to win a week-long business acceleration trip to Silicon Valley where they will further develop their ideas alongside meeting with industry experts, investors and potential customers. The Challenge is again organized in collaboration with venturelab.

Last year more than 200 startups submissions were received out of which the top 10 finalists were selected. Five startups including; Advanon, Fashwell, Nanolive, Qumram and Xsensio won the challenge, hence winning themselves a trip to Silicon Valley. Moreover, after the trip Swisscom invested in Nanolive, one of the five winners. Swisscom invests regularly in winners of the StartUp Challenge because the competition and the trip provide them valuable insights in the companies and the team.

This year again, Swisscom invites startups to submit their application. Submitted entries will be evaluated after which 10 finalists will be nominated. The finalists will be invited to pitch before the jury at La Werkstadt in Biel on 17 August 2017. Each will receive feedback from the expert jury and the five best startups will be identified as winners.

The 5 winners will have a pitch training program before the trip to Silicon Valley, which is scheduled to take pace from 24th September to 1st October 2017. While in Silicon Valley, they will also have a chance to learn from the personal experiences of top entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and tech companies from Silicon Valley. Swisscom and venture lab will also organise up to five meetings per day for startups to meet with potential investors, partners and customers in Silicon Valley.  Moreover, startups will regularly be mentored by Swisscom and venturelab experts.

Eligible to apply are Swiss high-growth start-ups – particularly from the fields of FinTech, smart cities, Artificial Intelligence, e-commerce or high-tech industries – to join the 2017 StartUp Challenge.

Registration phase runs until 7th May 2017. More information on the dedicated website.
