Distal Motion collects one award after the other. The Medtech start-up was one of the venture leaders in 2011 was supported with an Innogrant and a FIT loan and is now one of the winners of venture kick phase III.

Distal Motion is developing a new surgical device, allowing surgeons to overcome many of the shortcomings of existing minimally invasive procedures and enabling a new generation of highly cost-effective surgery in the abdominal cavity. Their space saving co-dexterity machine is just one tenth of the cost of the huge robotic surgery systems in use nowadays. The company from Lausanne was founded by Ricardo Beira and Lionel Flaction in 2011.

Distal Motion is already supported with an Innogrant and has also received a 100.000 CHF loan from the Fondation pour l'Innovation Technologique. Venture kick adds another 130.000 CHF in Seed Money. The founders will use it to develop a prototype that should be ready in Q4 2012.

The private initiative venture kick is financed by the GEBERT RÜF STIFTUNG, the ERNST GÖHNER foundation, the OPO foundation, the AVINA STIFTUNG and FONDATION 1796. The project is managed by the IFJ Institut für Jungunternehmen in St. Gall. Since its inception in the autumn of 2007, venture kick has awarded more than 7.5 million francs in prize money. The efforts have resulted in the creation of more than 150 highly innovative companies. Furthermore, the supported startups have been able to attract equity, loans, support and prize money to the total tune of over 240 million francs.
