Skioo, the innovative Swiss online platform providing ski passes without standing in line at the ticketing desk, has just raised CHF 6 new millions with the support of investors from Switzerland and Norway. The startup from Lausanne has an ambitious plan for the next winter season: to develop its business in Europe and become a global player.

Skioo is taking the online ski ticketing game to another level. After raising last September CHF 1.5 millions, the startup based in Lausanne is set to expand its business to key alpine markets such as Austria, France and Italy. Gregory Barbezat, Skioo’s CEO confirmed in an interview to Startupticker.ch that his startup has raised CHF 6 million thanks to the support of ski world champion Aksel Lund Svindal and investors from Norway and Switzerland such as Canica's Family Office in Zurich.

The new funds will enable Skioo fuel an ambitious expansion program in Europe that will turn the company into a global player in the tourism industry. In an article published earlier this week by Swiss economic newspaper L’Agefi, Gregory Barbezat explained that more than 50% of the skier-days in the world were generated in the Alps, a market driven mainly by 40 ski resorts.

With its new ressources, Skioo intends to take the experience offered to ski lovers to another level. Thanks to its platform, the startup from the Canton de Vaud will also connect destinations to major online tourism players such as Booking and TripAdvisor.

Created three years ago, Skioo offers a new and innovative ski pass system that gives its users the possibility to access a maximum of ski resorts with one and the same card. Today 25’000 users can ski in 55 Swiss resorts such as Verbier, Davos-Klosters, Saas-Fee, Crans-Montana, Gstaad Mountain Rides and Leukerbad. Skioo employs today 12 people, 8 of which in Lausanne.
