Sensima Technology, a spin-off from EPFL developing technology for magnetic sensors, has announced today the closing of a Series A funding round with Go Beyond Ltd.

Sensima Technology SA has closed a Series A funding round with Go Beyond Ltd. Founded in 2008, as a spin-off from EPFL, Sensima has since further developed its technology for magnetic sensors and licensed it to several manufacturers. Sensima’s sensors gained acceptance in a broad range of applications in automotive, space and others.

This financing will enable Sensima to accelerate next generation design of sensor products in cooperation with lead customers as well as market entry. The new sensors will push key performance features of hall_based angular position sensors by factors and will enable the design of more energy efficient and cost effective electric motors.

Welcoming Jens Muttersbach, a semiconductor veteran and general manager, as new CEO, as well as Andreas Hürlimann, independent tech board professional and entrepreneur, as lead investor and board member, the Sensima team is now set for market entry and growth as a fabless component player.

Sensima Technology a fabless semi-conductor company, spun-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) in 2008. Its Hall sensor technology is based on research at EPFL and their R&D team has more than a decade’s worth of experience with integrated CMOS sensors. Sensima is currently industrializing a range of angular sensors based on its proprietary SPINAXIS sensor technology. Sensima Technology was awarded with the CTI Start-up Label in 2011.
