Verity drones on stage

Swiss startups offering fintech, biotech and deeptech solutions scored well in global awards and rankings. While Futurae brought home an award, Versantis and Arvelle won recognition in global rankings, Auterion und Verity made it to the final round of the AUVSI XCELLENCE Awards.

Futurae Technologies AG, The Financial NewTech Challenge
The Financial NewTech Challenge is a global competition that aims to identify the most inspiring collaborative projects between NewTechs and financial institutions and to recognise the most innovative financial NewTechs. The 2020 edition received 164 submissions from around the world. With 2,700 votes cast, seven winners were identified including the Swiss Fintech startups Futurae in the category the Retail Banking and Investglass in the category Wealth Management category. Futurae was selected for their seamless and secure multi-factor authentication and transaction confirmation process for end-users and organisations via machine learning and sensor signal technology. Investglass is the provider of an integrated wealth advisor platform.

Versantis among the 5 Top Orphan Drug Startups
Based on its StartUs Insights Platform, covering over 1,116, 000 startups and emerging companies, the StartUs Insights committee identified 231 relevant solutions from which it picked the top five startups & emerging companies developing orphan drug solutions. The companies are presented on the Global Startup Heat Map. The Swiss startup Versantis is among the top five.

Focusing on addressing, Acute Liver Diseases, the startup is developing VS-01 is a liposomal-based intra-peritoneal fluid that clears a broad spectrum of toxic metabolites from the liver. It is undergoing clinical investigations for the treatment of acute-on-chronic liver failure, decompensated cirrhosis, and urea cycle disorders. The startup also develops drugs for chronic liver diseases and drug intoxications.

Ilise Lombardo Co-founder of Arvelle Therapeutics selected among the top 10 global female-led companies
BusinessFinancing has nominated the top female founders in every country in the world and created a new set of maps to show who they are and what they do. Ilise Lombardo, Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer at Swiss startup Avelle Therapeutics was selected among the top10 high-achieving women entrepreneurs worldwide and number one in Switzerland. Arvelle is developing cenobamate, an investigational antiepileptic drug for the adjunctive treatment of focal-onset seizures in adults with epilepsy.

The top 10 female leaders in Switzerland are; Ilise Lombardo (Arvelle Therapeutics), Galia Benartzi (Bancor), Elisa Scarduelli (Nouscom), Lea von Bidder (Ava), Deborah Heintze (Lunaphore), Yolande Chvatchko (Calypso Biotech), Vanessa King (Virion Biotherapeutics), Meriam Kabbaj (Versantis), Lynn Durham 8Stalicla) and Catherine Pickering (iOnctura).

Two startups among the finalists of the AUVSI XCELLENCE Awards
The awards celebrate the achievements of individuals and organizations who have applied unmanned systems technology to create solutions to address a range of challenges affecting business and society. Auterion offering the Auterion Enterprise Suite and Verity with its Failsafe are among the finalists in the Technology Innovation categories. The winners will be announced at XPONENTIAL 2020 on 6 October 2020.
