Just a month after the closing of its seed round with Sony, IDUN Technologies specialised in sensors for wearable devices, has received additional investment from Joyance Partners. The startup will benefit from the latter’s expertise for the development of new products.

IDUN Technologies, a spin-off from ETH Zurich is developing accurate and comfortable sensors for wearable devices. Its first product is Dryode a soft and flexible dry electrode that allows for high precision biopotential monitoring (ECG, EMG, EEG) with unobtrusive user experience. The Dryode Kit addresses researchers, developers, and makers with its reusable high-end electrodes. Dryode is already available in the market.

Following the market launch, IDUN has reached further accomplishments including the recent investment from Sony. The startup has also welcomed Joyance Partners to its investor board. Joyance is a San Francisco based venture capital partnership that invests in companies with the capacity to "deliver or contribute to the delivery of Delightful Moments." With IDUN, Joyance has added another Swiss startup to its portfolio after Planted Foods.

Funds and expertise
In addition to providing funds in the form of a convertible loan, Joyance will offer its expertise to support IDUN’s future development. Simon Bachmann, CEO of IDUN Technologies comments on the significance of having Joyance on board: “We see Joyance as a strong strategic partner for developing products that the world needs now and in the future, as we develop towards a highly connected society. We plan to strengthen our competencies in neuroscience and the specifics of how music and meditation affect our brain health”,

“Joyance is all about the small and delightful moments that can make a big difference in people's everyday lives. With Joyance, we combine a great passion for the emerging science of health and happiness. We are looking forward to supporting IDUN with our in-house experts in neuro-tech and digital health and a vast network of experienced investors”, said Paolo Pio, Managing Director Joyance Partners Europe.

With a team of ten employees, IDUN Technologies is planning to expand its product portfolio with an electrode for scalp EEG and for in-ear EEG. The company is also fundraising for its series A round scheduled for early 2021. "We are looking for strong financial VC investors with an appetite for neurotech and BCI domains as well as a strong international focus. Joyance Partners is the first logical step in that direction", said Bachmann.
