The Movie&Media Labs by the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Italian Switzerland (SUPSI) is organizing the first «Startup Kids» program during the Locarno Film Festival. The program aims to develop and nurture children’s entrepreneurial skills.

The Locarno Film Festival, which takes place from August 12 to 16, is more than just movies, glitz and glam. The Movie&Media Labs by SUPSI created the workshop «Startup Kids» for kids aged nine to eleven with the goal of stimulating and developing their entrepreneurial skills.

During five days, the participants together with experienced coaches will transform four ideas into projects. The participants will first identify the needs, obstacles and opportunities of their ideas and then turn it into a concrete project. On the last day of the workshop, each group will present its project with the best one getting a prize.

Interested kids can register online. The maximum number of participants is set at 16 and the workshop costs 140 Swiss Francs. Sponsors of the event are Gebert Rüf Stiftung, Oser Entreprendere, Start-Up Centro Promozione, Dipartimento delle finanze e dell’economia Ticino and ImprendiTi.
