The Fribourg based Mobbot developed a new 3D concrete printing technique for construction companies. The jury of the FIT has awarded MOBBOT with a FIT Tech Seed loan of CHF 100’000 to enable further development of the company.

MOBBOT developed a 3D concrete printing head coupled to a platform that integrates and automates all components of the system. The 3D printing platform saves time and resources for construction companies. MOBBOT’s technology makes it possible to produce one-ton concrete components in less than ten minutes. In the long-run, a mobile robot will be able to print custom elements directly on the construction site.

Compared to conventional processes, which require the manufacture of formworks, the MOBBOT system makes it possible to print custom parts directly and without formwork, which makes it between 40% and 80% less expensive. The delivery of customized items goes from five to one day.

The startup has now obtained CHF 100’000 from the FIT Tech Seed loan to enable the startup to build a commercial demonstrator of its 3D concrete printing head, cover operating costs for pilot projects and develop a new version of the system.

“FIT’s support is invaluable in bringing us closer to our vision and making 3D concrete printing parts directly on the job site,” said Agnes Petit, CEO of MOBBOT, after the FIT jury session.
