InnoBooster funds deep-tech solutions

The third cohort of the Innobooster program, initiated by the Gebert Rüf Stiftung, comprises of four startups from different regions in Switzerland. Although the startups are developing different solutions for different needs in different industries, their solutions have a direct impact on both social and environmental spheres. During the next 18 months, they will utilize the obtained CHF 150'000 from the InnoBoosters program to advance their solutions and accelerate market entry.

CompPair
Based in Lausanne, CompPair is a spinoff from the Laboratory for Processing of Advanced Composites (LPAC) at EPFL. The company was established following 12 years of thorough research in the field of self-healing composites to develop an efficient solution for extending the lifetime of composites structures. This technology is produced using conventional manufacturing processes for composites and applies to any structural applications using composites such as aerospace, surface transport, energy generation and storage, sports, marine or constructions. Additionally, the startup's materials exhibit improved recyclability, leading to a better end of life management, to a more sustainable future.

Daphne Technology
Founded in 2017 in Ecublens, Daphne Technology is developing a catalyst-free scrubber technology to help the petrochemical, power and transportation industries to reduce air emissions to the levels required by international and national regulations. Daphne Technology’s patented nanotechnology-based solutions can be miniaturized and are especially well-suited to meet the requirements of marine vessels.

Synendos
Established in 2019 at the Swiss Innovation Park in Allschwil (Basel), Synendos a biopharmaceutical company that aims to develop breakthrough safe and effective therapies for unmet needs in neuropsychiatric disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The company’s main focus is the development of a new class of drugs for the treatment of anxiety and stress-related disorders by modulating the activity of cannabinoid molecules already present in the brain. This will enable the restoration of the natural functioning of the brain.

Oxara
The ETH-Spin-off is developing healthy and affordable floors for the more than 75% of the local Rwandan families living in dirty homes due to lack of good floors. Founded by Gnanli Landrou project Oxara uses locally available landfill waste (excavation materials) to produce a clay-based concrete. The solution is comparable to existing ones, however, it is 2.5 times cheaper and 20 times more eco-friendly.

With Innobooster, Gebert Rüf Stiftung supports university-based, high-potential business cases from the Venture Kick programme with the aim of substantially accelerating their market entry. Next cut-off date: 1 September.
