Almost 12 months ago, Dotphoton was the youngest company selected for Top 100 Swiss Startup Award. Meanwhile, it has become clear that the jury has made a good choice: Dotphoton achieved its first market validation and received further recognition.

In medicine, Artificial Intelligence is currently being adapted only hesitantly and is hardly scalable. One reason for this is the huge amount of data that imaging techniques generate, and which can only be processed with very powerful computers. Dotphoton can remove this obstacle. For so-called RAW images, which are delivered by image sensors without further processing, their technology reduces the required storage space by a factor of 10. At the same time, the quality of the images is maintained. A first version, which researchers can use on their computers, is already being used in practice. An even more powerful version is currently being developed in cooperation with healthcare research institutions and imaging device manufacturers. "The most important progress we have made in the past 12 months is first market validation," explains Eugenia Balysheva, CEO and co-founder of Dotphoton.

About twelve months ago, Dotphoton was the youngest company to make it into the Top 100 Swiss Startups. "I am still very proud of this success today," says Balysheva, adding that the label stands for quality and certainly helped Dotphoton. And the continued rapid development of the start-up shows that the hundred jury members were right at the time.

And there was also a confirmation regarding the quality label by the Swiss management platform for research data, DLCM (Data Lifecycle Management). The platform, created on mandate from Swissuniversities, is creating a national service for academic data management in Switzerland. Dotphoton's image compression is recognized as DLCM-compliant, which means that researchers can be sure that data they compressed with Dotphoton meets the requirements. "Thanks to this recognition, Dotphoton is on the way to become a standard for data compression for researchers, says Eugenia Balysheva.

Anyone who wants to check the performance of Dotphoton's software can do so. Despite its focus on the life sciences industry, the start-up recently launched a product called "Dotphoton RAW", which is aimed primarily at professional photographers. The first positive reviews have already been published.

Whether Dotphoton will again be again one of the Top 100 startups this year will be seen on September 4. This year's list will be published on this day. An audience award will also be presented. The public voting is open now. You can vote for your favourite startup on startup.ch.
