Experienced business angels including the Swiss entrepreneur Beat Curti have invested in the Sleepwear startup Dagsmejan. The funds will be used to finance the expansion to the US and new product lines.

Whereas no one is doing sports nowadays without functional clothing our sleepwear, in which we spent seven or eight hours every day, has remained more or less unchanged for decades. Dagsmejan changed this by introducing the technology from the sportswear to sleepwear sector. The company has launched two product lines – BALANCE, adjusting to the natural temperature of the sleeper, - and STAY WARM. A third line STAY COOL will be launched in August.

Two thirds of the products are sold direct to customers. “We have a global distribution and fulfillment model. So far we have customers from more than 30 countries”, explains Co-founder Andreas Lenzhofer to Startupticker. In addition the start-ups collaborates with selected distribution partners for example premium wellness and health resorts such as Grand Hotel Kulm, St. Moritz, or Grand Hotel Kronenhof, Pontresina.

Dagsmejan has closed another financing round of CHF1.2 million. Investors are experienced business angels. Among them is Beat Curti (Bon appétit Group, Goldbach). The new funds enable the company to expand to the US. “We have seen great market pull from the US market over the last 12 months in a purely organic way, this is why we now target this market more strategically. Our strategy is Digital-led, however we will also work with some innovative distribution partners on the ground”, comments Andreas Lenzhofer. In addition the startup is working on new product lines.

Dagsmejan's cofounder Catarina Dahlin provides more background information about the company in an interview which is part of CNNMoney's series with female founders.
