Glycemicon founder Nadja Mrosek named Female innovator of the year

The first Female Innovation Forum was organized by the Swiss Ladies Drive to bring together female innovators and those striving towards making a difference in the world.

The event kicked off with five insightful speeches on five topics followed by workshops under the motto «make ideas bigger better faster together». During the 60-minute workshops – on the themes of blockchain, social entrepreneurship and digitization, the revolution of old age, and globalization & ecology – attendees brought together their experience and know-how to help founders find solutions to some of their current challenges. The founders will meet again with the Swiss Ladies drive to follow up on their progress.

One of the highlights of the event was the award ceremony in the evening session. A jury of 21 members agreed on a shortlist for a two-stage nomination process and finally on the winners for the "Recognition Award" and the "Innovator of the Year Award.”

Nadja Mrosek, CEO of Glycemicon won the Innovator of the Year Award. She received various prizes including coaching worth CHF 30’000 and a sculpture crafted by the Swiss artist, Gabriela Brunner. Mrosek and her team are developing novel nutraceuticals for the maintenance of normal blood sugar levels and better weight management, using new approaches. Its product contains a naturally-occurring bile acid, THBA, which drives changes to the body fat architecture that combat elevated blood glucose levels.

“Nadja and her team are dedicated to finding solutions for the prevention of diabetes, and this is a huge market with great potential. Her solution is not yet on the launched; when it does it, I am certain it be successful. I wish her all the luck”, said Carole Ackermann, jury member, and Business Angel.

The second winner Melanie Kovacs, the founder of Master 21, received the Recognition award. Her company aims to shape the digital era by equipping individuals with programming skills for creating web apps among other things. Kovacs won various prizes including support to help her drive her company forward.

“Melanie is a wonderful example for many. She has achieved her goals regardless of all the challenges and insecurities. It is not easy to start a school, but Melani has succeeded in implementing it and most importantly she did not forget the women That is why I am delighted that she won this Recognition award”, commented Ackermann.
