For the fifth time, the Canton of Vaud is organising the Alpine High-tech Venture Forum (AHVF) on October 18, 2016 at Starling Hotel Lausanne. The Canton plays a significant role in the promotion of the dynamic and innovative professional entrepreneurs within the Alpine area. It also promotes the venture capitalists in the Alpine area and the rest of Europe to support their partnerships and investments. AHVF brings together innovative entrepreneurs operating in the fields of Life Sciences, Cleantech and Information Technology in Switzerland and Europe.

Last year seven Swiss start-ups were among the 15 selected winners at the AHVF. These include; Gaitup, Calciscon, Gene Predictis SA, ecoRobotix, enersis suisse AG, Fastree3D SA, Dorphan SA and Alpine Institute for Drug Discovery (AIDD).

Startups in the hightech sector are invited to apply in order to present their company in front of an international audience of business angels, venture capitalists, financial institutions and corporate investors. 40 early-stage companies active in the field will be selected to present their companies at the Forum by the Selection Board. The Board will assess them on the basis of their business potential, technology merit, competitive position, and investment interest and team experience.

Selected Start-ups will have a wide range of opportunities to exploit at the Forum. Besides presenting their companies to the audience, they will be exposed to a large network of corporates, venture capitalists and will also have the opportunity to interact with their peers and fast growing companies. In addition they will be able to join up to four 1on1 meeting with the experts of their choice. They will also be invited to attend the Dry-Run workshop on 17th October 2016. The workshop is designed to assist the selected start-ups to develop an effective investor presentation. Experienced coaches from the relevant industry areas will work closely with the startups to provide them the required skills for their presentations. The focus will be on how to meet strategic partners and potential investors’ expectations and highlighting the strengths and weaknesses which need to be addressed and improved.

The Alpine High-tech Venture Forum 2016 is part of the European Venture Contest 2016. The top quartile (best 25%) of the selected companies from the Alpine High-tech Venture Forum will qualify for the European Venture Summit which will take place on December 5 and 6 in Dusseldorf, Germany.
