PSE-based DomoSafety SA, a startup company awarded with 1st prize PERL competition which offers extended autonomy and peace of mind at home to the elderly, announces that it has successfully closed its second financing round and raised CHF 935,000 of new equity from business angels and private investors. The funds will provide the means to accelerate the commercialization of its intelligent care system and to continue investing in R & D.

Funding was provided by BAS (Business Angels Suisse Romande) and investiere.ch whom already participated in the first financing round. Additionally, A3 Angels club, GoBeyond and other private investors chose to participate in this round. "We are pleased to be entrusted once again by our shareholders. Their continued support will lead us to the next phase of DomoSafety’s business development", says Edouard Goupy, DomoSafety’s CEO. "Thanks to the support of new investors such as A3 Angels, private and industrial investors, we can now face the future with confidence.” This financing round has been succesfully conducted under the supervision of Maxime Chollet and Damien Conus from CPV Partners, startup-friendly lawyers.

The Vaud company launched in 2009 made its first sales in 2012. It already has an order backlog that exceeds 500,000 Swiss francs.

The DomoSafety intelligent care system includes a central processing unit and sensors that alert home care organizations, care givers or emergency call centers of potential risks at home. While the solution integrates seamlessly within new construction aimed at adapted housing, it is also easily installed in existing private homes.

DomoSafety innovates by adopting a preventive approach through its software health profile. "The goal is to extend autonomy as long as possible," said Edouard Goupy. The elderly may delay their admission into a retirement home and regain independence.

DomoSafety
DomoSafety SA is a PSE-based start-up company that provides intelligent technologies for the prevention, safety and comfort of elderly people at their homes. It develops and markets prevention systems that provide a secured place to live for the resident.

The solution is based on a unique algorithm that identifies domestic incidents and creates active or passive social alarms through an analysis of behavioral patterns. Additionally, it provides a simplified communication channel to the resident’s family and care services through its dedicated interface. The solution, developed by DomoSafety, significantly increases the domestic safety of the elderly and thus delays their admission into retirement homes. The system improves quality of life, for the resident while generating considerable savings both for the elderly and the social care systems.

Founded in 2009 by EPFL alumni, DomoSafety currently employs 10 people. In 2012, the company raised funds from business angels and incorporated as a limited company (SA). The company also signed its first three contracts in 2012. In April 2013, DomoSafety filed a patent to protect its innovative system including its proprietary software. In May 2013, DomoSafety was awarded with the 1st prize of entrepreneurial competition PERL (Prix Entreprendre Region Lausanne).
