Five deeptech solutions awarded worldwide

Futurae:  Endeavor Scale-up Program, Greece
Zurich based Futurae is a cybersecurity company providing a robust two-factor authentication suite that offers a high-security level to businesses and individuals to protect their accounts and sensitive user data. The startup has joined the Endeavor Scale-up Program, a local accelerator program for fast-growing companies, launched by Endeavor Greece. Participants must have received total funding of more than €5M or raised more than €2M in its Seed round or had a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) that exceeds 75% in the last three years. Participants will have access to strategic guidance from expert mentors, funding through the international Endeavor investor network, and talent, using the organisation’s international cooperation with universities and businesses.

Selmond, AiCubator Resident Status, AiCubator, Germany
AiCuris (Anti-infective Cures GmbH), a leading company in the discovery and development of drugs against infectious diseases, selected three novel anti-infective treatment approaches winners of the AiCubator Resident Status, a corporate innovation accelerator initiative. Over up to three years, the winning projects will benefit from expert scientific support to grow their underlying ideas and approaches to an advanced level. Selmod, a Swiss biotech startup, developing a novel class of gyrase inhibitors is one of the winners. With a lead candidate and three further candidates with a broad spectrum of activity against Gram-negative bacteria, Selmod’s project promises to be an innovative approach as a resistance breaking antibiotic.

Akenza, Smart Construction Solution of the Year, IoT Breakthrough Award 2021, Global 
Akenza connects every ‘Thing’ to the cloud through its cloud-based system, making it possible to communicate data via a network. The startup won in the category ‘Industry’ of the IoT Breakthrough Awards. The program honours excellence in Internet-of-Things technologies (IoT), services, companies and products. It provides a forum for public recognition around the achievements of IoT companies and products in various categories including Industrial IoT. Akenza was also recognised with the Smart Construction Solution of the Year.

Swiss Precision Lighting, LIT Lighting Design Awards, Global
The annual LIT Lighting Design Awards recognise the efforts of talented international lighting product designers and lighting designers. A grand jury panel composed of experienced and prominent academics, professionals, press members, entrepreneurs, and key leaders in the lighting industry evaluated and selected the winners. One of them is the Fribourg-based startup Swiss Precision Lighting (SPL) in the category Energy Saving Lighting. The company designed a novel lighting system for sports and other surfaces. The economical and sustainable system precisely directs all of the generated light onto the sports field without light spilling in unwanted directions, or even above the horizon. Among other benefits, the system requires up to 40 percent less electrical power than alternative conventional LED luminaires.

Atlentis Therapeutics' founder awarded, France
Thomas Baumert, founder of Alentis Therapeutics the Swiss biotech developing breakthrough treatments for fibrotic diseases has received the Mémain-Pelletier, French Academy of Science award for his ground-breaking research into understanding the pathogenesis of liver cancer. Over 800’000 people a year die from liver cancer worldwide. The role fibrosis plays in liver cancer genesis is clear, which is why Alentis is developing new medicines to treat, and even reverse the effects of liver fibrosis.
