Swiss startups in the global spotlight

Four start-ups will be on the stage at two important industry events in Barcelona and Paris in the coming weeks. They have been selected as finalists for the JEC Startup Booster and the 4YFN awards.

JEC Startup Booster is a key worldwide competition for startups in the composites industry. Twenty startups will be coming from around the world to pitch their project to a panel of expert judges during JEC World 2020, the international composites trade fair (March, 3 to 5, Paris Nord-Villepinte). The finalists will be put in touch with key decision-makers in the composites industry as wll as potential customers and partners. The jury includes representatives from major manufacturers (Airbus, Daimler, Magna, Solvay) and investors (BASF Venture Capital). Among the finalists are two companies from Switzerland:

9T Labs: The ETH Zurich spin-off aims at delivering industrial-grade continuous carbon fibre 3D-printed composites through the seamless combination of an automated software, 3D-printing and post-processing solution.

CompPair Technologies: The EPFL spinoff brings the first commercially available healable and sustainable composite material solutions, reducing repair time from hours to minutes and improving circularity. Damage healing is simply activated by moderate heat. They provide a range of unique prepregs compatible with existing production lines of structural composites.

PXL Vision and Exeon on stage in Barcelona

The 4YFN Barcelona Awards 2020 is the startup competition of the 4YFN during MWC Barcelona 2020 event, focused on accelerating business development and the investment of new technologies. The winner will receive €25,000. The finals will take place at the 4YFN conference in February. 4YFN is the startup event of the world’s largest exhibition for the mobile industry, the Mobile World Congress, held annually in Barcelona. 4YFN aims to support startups, investors and companies to connect and launch new business ventures together.

The Swiss startups selected for 4YFN are PXL Vision and Exeon Analytics.

PXL Vision provides leading solutions for the automation and enhancement of online identity verification and customer onboarding through tailored software solutions powered by the latest developments in Computer Vision and Machine Learning. Customers include Sunrise and SwissSign with the SwissID.

Exeon Analytics fights advanced cyber-attacks using big data analytics. Its flagship product ExeonTrace relies on big data algorithms and machine learning to identify covert APT (Advanced Persistent Threat ) attacks and malware infections hiding in regular web traffic. ExeonTrace connects to existing tools like Splunk and Elasticsearch and identifies anomalies in the collected data using award-winning algorithms developed at ETH Zurich.

Exeon Analytics and nine other Swiss start-ups are also part of the Venture Leaders Mobile roadshow to 4YFN and MWC.
