Exomotion and Jury

The jury of the EO Global Students Entrepreneur Award Switzerland awarded Exomotion the first place for their innovative three-wheeled electric scooter that brings a new generation of personal mobility devices. Eduwo and Caulys won the second and third places respectively.

The Entrepreneur Organisation (EO) is a global student’s network that empowers and reinforces young entrepreneurs to learn and grow through peer-to-peer learning while enabling them to gather new experiences and to benefit from the organization’s broad network of experts. The EO Global Students Entrepreneur Award (GSEA) in over 50 countries sets the platform for identifying talented student entrepreneurs that can benefit from the organization’s support. All national winners will gather in Macau April 11th to 12th 2019 for the global finals.

The national winner of Switzerland is Mohsen Falahi founder of Exomotion. With the core focus on safety, the startup is developing the Virage board, a three-wheeled e-scooter.

The uniqueness of Virage lies in the wheels, which are designed with multiple miniature wheels on them. This allows for a novel approach to motion, that is omnidirectionality. A Virage board being fully and infinitely omnidirectional allows one to maneuver from point A to point B, without needing to change the course of direction. As such, instead of four wheels, Virage only requires three of them.

The overall design combined with the wheels makes Virage safe and easy for any customer segment to use without falling. The prototype of Virage is complete, and the next plan is to launch a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo in April to raise funds for production.

Right from a young age, Mohsen was fascinated by robotics. At the age of 17, he filed his first patent and now brought his experience in the field of transportation. His innovativeness, personality, and experience impressed the Jury at the EO GSEA, who considered the founder's personality in the judging criteria.

“We were impressed by the combination of personality, the product and all the experience that Mohsen has gathered. He now has the opportunity and the mandate from the Swiss EO to take Europe’s ambition to the next level and represent Switzerland,” said Dominique Reber, member of the jury.

Besides traveling to Macau, Exomotion received a cash prize of CHF 5000 and various non-cash prizes including a one-year membership in the EO accelerator.

Eduwo and Caulys in the second and third place
Eduwo is an independent Swiss rating platform for education. The platform allows current and former students to report and rate their institutions and study programs, which helps prospective students to make better decisions of where to study. The platform has already received over 3000 ratings for over 1'560 study programs. In 2018, Eduwo generated revenues and is now raising funds for the first round.

Caulys, the winner of the third place developed an indoor greenhouse to enable anyone to produce fruits and vegetables directly at home with less than 15 minutes per week of gardening. The device required less transport, low energy consumption, less waste, no pesticides, no GMOs. It also enables users to grow up to 200 plants simultaneously until harvesting. The founders will deploy 12 boxes at the ETH for the pilot.
