The 3,000-room Venetian Hotel in Macau has installed four Smixin Hand Washing systems inside its staff self-serve canteen. Up to 9,000 meals are served in the canteen per day. Smixin systems reduce water consumption by 90% and ensure repeatable and controllable hygiene level.

The Smixin Hand washing system was developed in collaboration with Creaholic  (a Swiss innovation factory founded by Elmar Mock, co-inventor of the Swatch) and is covered by three international patent families, all of which have been granted. Smixin uses a technology that allows for the optimal dosing, metering and mixing of soap, water and air, thereby saving up to 90% of water and 60% of soap.

Several places around the world – including France, China, Hong Kong, Czech Republic, Taiwan, Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands – have already installed the Smixin Hand Washing systems on their premises.

Last week, Smixin announced that the Venetian Hotel in Macau, which serves up to 9000 meals a day in the canteen, has opted for the smart hand washing system for its staff canteen. Previously, the canteen was fitted with traditional sinks and faucets for their staff to use before and after having their meals. Because of the sheer volume of people using the facility on a daily basis, there was a large amount of water being wasted and soap overuse. Given its strong ethos to sustainability, the Hotel choose the Smixin systems to replace their existing sinks and faucets. By installing the Smixin systems, the Venetian Hotel is also taking a step further in promoting hygiene of its staff and encourage them to wash their hands thoroughly before going to back work.
