Lykke, a Swiss FinTech company building a regulated global marketplace on the blockchain, has signed an agreement with the Access to Information (a2i) Programme of the Prime Minister’s Office of Bangladesh for the joint development of blockchain technology to power digitized public services.

“Lykke is honored to partner with Bangladesh and proud to play a role in this transformative effort,” said Richard Olsen, Lykke founder and CEO. “Blockchain technology holds the potential to reduce the time, cost, and effort required to access vital public services online, including financial services, but also identification, land records, and so on. We believe that this will truly accelerate many of the advancements that the Government of Bangladesh has already made in these areas. It can also help to establish a model for other countries to emulate.”

The signing ceremony took place during the International Seminar on South-South and Triangular Cooperation in Innovation of Public Services, a workshop hosted by a2i and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) from December 9–11 at the Prime Minister’s Office in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

In attendance were H.E. Mr. Reaz Rahman, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, as well as Mr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Chief Coordinator for Sustainable Development Goals from the Prime Minister’s Office; and Mr. Kabir Bin Anwar, Director General (Administration) of the Prime Minister’s Office and Project Director of a2i;
