Registration for the CTI Swiss Medtech Award is now open

The Commission for Technology and Innovation and its partners will jointly present the 2017 CTI Swiss Medtech award at the Swiss Medtech day on June 13. The winner will receive CHF 15’000 and admission to the Swiss Innovation Forum. Submission of projects closes on 6 February.

The Swiss Medtech Day is an annual event and also one of the most important events in Swiss Medtech industry uniting key players in the sector including startups, large organisations, Universities, investors and individuals interested in exploring and learning more about the industry. The event is designed to addresses the current trends in the sector and to determine how to effectively utilise them. The Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI), Fasmed and Medical Cluster are jointly hosting the event for the second time. The event will take place on June 13th, 2017 at Kursaal Bern. Registration for the event is now open.

Highlights at the 2017 Swiss Medtech Day include:

CTI Swiss Medtech Award ceremony
The CTI Swiss medtech award is designed to support innovation and the competitiveness of Swiss medical technology and to stimulate knowledge transfer between researchers, medtech companies, start-ups and SMEs. Eligible to participate in the award are startups with CTI Medtech projects.

Three finalists chosen by the CTI Medtech expert team will present their projects before the audience during the Medtech Day event. They will have the opportunity to present their poster to over 500 medtech experts from Switzerland and abroad, and will also increase their visibility – thanks to the high media presence at the event. The audience will vote for the most outstanding project to be winner and will receive the prize of CHF 15’000 and admission to and an exhibition stand at the Swiss Innovation Forum 2017 in Basel.  Submission deadline is 6th February 2017.

Poster session and exhibition
The poster session and its associated science slam for the best eight posters are an important part of Swiss Medtech Day 2017. All innovation groups from research, development, start-ups and industry are invited to contribute to the poster session and present their project. Posters that have any link to medical engineering and can be related to any of the four innovation fields: New Technologies, Product innovations, Process innovation and Innovative business models will qualify for the poster sessions. Eight posters will be selected. Submissions are accepted until 3rd March 2017.

The event also allows individuals who are either a certified supplier, are looking for partners to launch a new product, are recruiting new staff or provide specialized services / products for the medtech industry to participate in the tabletop exhibition at the conference. Registration and reservation are possible until 12th May 2017.

Breakout sessions and Keynotes
The CTI Medtech Day is recognised for its Breakout sessions. This year, a group of experts will gather to discuss some of the most current topics in the medtech sector. The topics to be addressed include: Intellectual Property & Market Protection, Success through Partnerships, Health Technology Assessments, a new reality for innovation only?, and digitalisation of Business Models and research Trends in Biomedical Engineering & Biomaterials

Moreover, the event will host two keynote speakers. One of them is Serge Bernasconi, CEO of MedTech Europe. MedTech Europe is an alliance of the two most important European umbrella organizations, EDMA and Eucomed.
