Powered by Dacuda, ALCATEL ONETOUCH has unveiled its top-of-the-line smartphone IDOL X+ with the world’s first Larger Than Life (LTL) Panorama technology at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.  Dacuda is the inventor of the mass production proven SLAM Scan technology on which the world’s first LTL Panorama smartphone is based.

Dacuda’s unique panorama solution benefits from camera tuning and low-level camera API access, which enables better quality and an improved experience. Taking advantage of the tight integration between ALCATEL ONETOUCH’s powerful hardware and Dacuda’s software, a unique competitive advantage for the smartest phone camera has been generated at no additional hardware cost. The cooperation between the two companies led to a record short time to market of the world’s first LTL Panorama flagship smartphone with an intuitive user experience.

LTL Panorama brings IDOL X+ closer to DSLR
Existing panorama solutions generally work only with one dimension and without flexible capturing. The output usually has low resolution and the format is not suitable for printing and sharing. Dacuda’s LTL Panorama solution allows capturing wide angels with arbitrary movements in any direction, and in addition the output is available with high resolution in the size ratio of 4:3 or in other popular formats for sharing and printing.

“We strive to provide consumers the best technology for daily life. As a result of the development cooperation with Dacuda, we are proud to provide LTL Panorama with our latest handset, the IDOL X+,” said Dan Dery, Chief Marketing Officer, ALCATEL ONETOUCH and further states that “the Dacuda Panorama solution has added a great deal of value to the camera module in terms of functionality and user experience.”

“ALCATEL ONETOUCH has actively contributed to the optimization of Dacuda’s LTL Panorama solution and ultimately gained a real competitive edge over its competitors in terms of user experience,” explained Dr. Peter Weigand, CEO of Dacuda. “The cooperation with ALCATEL ONETOUCH also represents an important milestone for Dacuda: the SLAM Scan core, which is already mass production proven for desktop solutions and shows impressive performance for solutions in the mobile segment for both smartphone and tablet platforms.”
