During the next weeks startupticker.ch will publish articles about the 10 winners of the first phase of >>venture>> 2012. The second text is about KB Medical from Lausanne.

As an ETH Lausanne spin-off company KB Medical develops leading-edge medical devices for robotic assisted surgeries. With the development of the Neuroglide, a highly precise surgery robot for spinal screw placements, surgeons get robotic assistance for high precision (and high risk) surgeries.

Seamless integration into existing operating rooms is guaranteed, as our solution is very small and compact and fits smoothly into the current surgical workflow. Real-time compensation for patient movement guarantees permanently correct positioning of the implant.

The patient‘s treatment is more efficient, fewer traumas occur and hospitalization time is shortened. Moreover, irradiation dose exposure for the medical staff is lowered considerably, as staff is able to leave the operating room when acquiring intraoperative images.

The company was founded by Philippe Bérard, Szymon Kostrzewski and Sebastian Fifansky.

A presentation of KB Medical can be found on the venture kick website. Contact: info@kbmedical.com.

The Jury of >>venture>> says about KB Medical: There is definitely a need for a solution proposed by KB Medical to improve patient safety and outcome. They strongly differentiate themselves from the competition in cost levels and a more simplified solution with a highly precise technology.
